About
Hello, my name is RJ – I am a sound designer and composer based in Glasgow, Scotland.
In the last five years I have produced numerous sound designs including; The Arches 15 year anniversary production Inferno; End Game, One Hour Before Sunrise and Marat Sade for Theatre Workshop; Hamlet, Dolly West’s Kitchen, The Grapes Of Wrath, Passing Places, Heartbreak House, Taking Sides, The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie and The Life Of Stuff for Pitlochry Festival Theatre, and The Enchanted Forest 2010 show, Force Of Nature.
My work begins in the studio but comes to life in the space. This could be anything from a stage in a theatre to a cobbled street outdoors – my sound installation News Real for Feet First being an example of the latter.
In my work I utilise texture, space and economy to evoke an emotional audience reaction. I am influenced by everything I hear.
Although the majority of my work is in theatre, I have also created original music and soundscapes for audio walks, short films, websites and audio dramas.
